Yesterday I planted my potatoes for 2011. 76 hills of Kennebec and 44 hills of Red Norland.

- I planted my first tomato plant in northwest Illinois in 1947 and have been gardening ever since. My house is on a 2.3 acre lot and have 3 garden plots totaling 10,000 square feet. All vegetable. No flowers. No weeds.
I never did get around to trying any potatoes this year but I did move my compost into a new bin and we have potato and pumpkin plants growing all in the place where the pile had been.
