Every time it rains, a thin crust forms on the surface of the soil. As soon as that crust dries out I brake it up with my hoe. This is very easy to do physically if you do it every time it rains.
I planted my first tomato plant in northwest Illinois in 1947 and have been gardening ever since. My house is on a 2.3 acre lot and have 3 garden plots totaling 10,000 square feet. All vegetable. No flowers. No weeds.
Just exactly how do you keep your garden so weed free:)??
