The blizzard of 2011 is now history. I can barely remember the blizzards of 1948, 1954, 1966, 1972, 1978, 1979, 1987, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2006, 2009, and 1010. I would rather remember peonies. And butterflies
You have a new follower. I've enjoyed your posts but have more to read. A question as I haven't read all the posts...do you keep your garden weed free by tilling and hoeing or just hoeing? And what to you use to fertilize your soil besides compost? Sorry, that was 2 questions! Hubby and I have about given up on gardening, the soil is not good and the drainage is worse. But I'm determined to try something this year!
Cheryl Thanks for following. I hand hoe close around the plants and till between the rows. Besides a little compost, I till in approximately 1,000 bushels of grass clippings and leaves per year. Also supplement a few things with a little all purpose 13-13-13.
I planted my first tomato plant in northwest Illinois in 1947 and have been gardening ever since. My house is on a 2.3 acre lot and have 3 garden plots totaling 10,000 square feet. All vegetable. No flowers. No weeds.
I love the peonies (more than that first picture!).
ReplyDeleteWE got another 2 inches late yesterday. We don't want anymore.
I didn't realize your garage was big enough to park that snowblower. HA!
